Telecommunications Engineering Career

Before graduates and young professionals throw themselves into the telecommunications engineering field, they should understand what the average day of people in this profession is like. Telecommunications engineers work with company architects, designers, and managers to determine the technical needs of new buildings and towers. As well, telecommunications engineers collaborate with end users and vendors alike to connect their handheld and remote equipment with data and phone service. These engineers also help clients troubleshoot their technical issues and can help make recommendations as to future technical leads. The telecommunication engineer works long hours on occasion in order to meet client needs, though it usually hangs around 40 hours per week.

After pursuing 10+2 students must opt for acquiring technician's qualifications through the 3 year diploma courses that are usually offered by the Technology Training Institutions. Then there is an option for studying for membership examinations of professional organizations or those diploma holders can carry out part time degree course for enhancing their qualification. There are numerous universities that are offering B.Sc Electronics course which can be followed by an MSc in the subject. Additionally, there are specialized B.Tech courses that are offered in varied fields such as Electronics & Computer Sc., Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Control, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Information Electronics & Power, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Telematics, Electronics & Power, Electronics & Electrical Communication and many more.

Career Avenues for Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering Students- Organization dealing with consumers, aircrafts and broadcast electronics, hospital and medical equipment, satellite, computers, marine navigation, audiovisual test and farm machinery offers opportunities for electronic /telecommunication engineers. The union or amalgamation of technology for telephones, computers, and cable, video and broadcast television requires proficient people skilled in various other disciplines. Engineers from computers, electronics telecommunications/communication have opportunities in a wide variety of companies.

This job is quite specialised and requires candidates to posses a large amount of knowledge and educational qualifications. Despite the hard work and competition for jobs, this is a really interesting and well paid job to undertake. It certainly pays well after you have completed a few years of solid experience across the industry. The higher end of the salary band is £35,000 to £50,000.

You will find that most of the work related to this role is office related. So if you are hoping to get out and about then this job might not be for you. Although you may have to travel to offices in different countries.

If you want to apply for a communications engineer job then it is certainly useful to have a degree in telecommunications. Although you will still be considered if you do something a bit broader if you can demonstrate a proven interest in this particular area. Some relevant degree include computer science, physics, maths, information technology and electronic engineering.
